Students of the Master of Digital Humanities (École nationale des Chartes) ranked in the top three of an HTR international competition

A team comprising Denise Atzori, Marie Bizais-Lillig, Mathias Garnier, Maxime Létoffé, Charles Planque, Tianjie Yin, all students of the Master of Digital Humanities (École nationale des Chartes), along with Chahan Vidal-Gorène, Director of the Master program, took part to the EvaHan 2026, the Fifth International Evaluation of Ancient Chinese Information Processing, focusing on OCR tasks for multimodal large language models in ancient Chinese. 

The system they proposed ranked among the best of the competition and will be presented  at the Workshop on Language Technologies for Historical and Ancient Languages (LT4HALA) on 11th May 2026, under the title "Building Character(s): Synthetic Data and In-Context Learning Strategies for Few-Shot Ancient Chinese Recognition".
